VOX ATL Volunteer Application

Share your knowledge and insights with the teens. This typically happens in either a Q&A format or we ask subject experts to lead an interactive, hands-on learning workshop that we co-create. Most guest speakers join us for about an hour and a half, but all are welcome to stay for the entire day’s program.  

There are several ways for corporations and other organizations to support VOX ATL, including hosting a drive for in-kind items, allowing a teen to shadow you at your workplace, hosting a VOX ATL field trip, or co-facilitating a workshop with VOX ATL on behalf of your organization. 

VOX ATL hosts several events throughout the school year, including a Winter Showcase, Poetry Open Mic Night, an annual fundraiser, and our end-of-year celebration, VOX-a-Palooza. Our Events team helps the teens’ vision for each event come to life. In the past, volunteers have assisted with event promotion, setting up/breaking down the space, and operating the welcome table. 

Ensure safety and engagement of teens during off-site field trips. Chaperones are most needed during our VOX Media Café in June. We visit newsrooms, TV stations, college campuses, arts organizations, and more.  

Support story production and media skill development. This is a great opportunity for photographers, podcasters, videographers, video editors, and audio engineers to lend a hand in supporting the growth of young creatives. 

Support and mentor a teen through the story production process. This role is best suited for reporters, editors, copyeditors, and other journalists. Some teens may need help finding an angle, determining which sources to approach, or overcoming creative blocks. This one-on-one help with their articles is incredibly beneficial.
